Jordan Hendry (born February 23, 1984) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is currently a free agent invited to the Minnesota Wild's 2011 training camp.

Playing career

Hendry played four years of collegiate hockey with the University of Alaska Fairbanks of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). Undrafted, he signed his first professional contract with the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL on March 18, 2006. Hendry then played the end of the 2005–06 with the Admirals.

On July 17, 2006, Hendry was signed by the Admirals parent club, the Chicago Blackhawks, to a two-year contract. After making his NHL debut in the 2007–08 season with the Blackhawks, Jordan was re-signed for a further two years on June 24, 2008.

On June 9, 2010, Hendry won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks. He brought the Cup to Nokomis the following July for pictures and autographs.

On February 27, 2011, during a game against the Phoenix Coyotes, Hendry suffered a season ending tear to the ACL in his left knee after a check from Coyotes forward Shane Doan sent him into the boards awkwardly.

In August of 2011, Hendry signed a tryout contract with the Minnesota Wild.

L’Hockey Club Lugano comunica di aver ingaggiato con un contratto valido fino al termine della corrente stagione il difensore canadese Jordan Hendry (183 cm. x 88kg., left).

Nato il 23.2.1984 nel Saskatchewan, Hendry ha disputato in carriera, tra il 2007 e il 2011, 144 partite in NHL con i Chicago Blackhawks, franchigia con cui ha conquistato nella stagione 2009/2010 la Stanley Cup. Nel corso degli anni ha pure indossato le maglie dei Norfolk Admirals e dei Rockford IceHogs in AHL.

Considerato un difensore completo, ha preso parte nel mese di agosto al campo d’allenamento dei Minnesota Wild, iniziando in seguito la stagione con gli Houston Aeros in AHL.

Hendry raggiungerà il Ticino nei prossimi giorni.

Negli ultimi anni diversi giocatori provenienti dagli Houston Aeros hanno fatto bene in LNA... Speriamo si confermi questo trend.

Questo un estratto del suo profile ai tempi del prospect (2005/2006). Lo definiscono un "fiero guerriero", molto intelligente che lavora e gioca duro. Se il profilo rispecchia in parte la realtà, questo è esattamente il tipo di difensore che mancava.

Talent Analysis
A real warrior is perhaps the best way to describe Hendry. He is a fierce competitor with a never-say-die attitude. He is a very smart, two-way defenseman who plays as hard as he works. Hendry thrives in the physical game and can often be found laying some punishing hits on the opposition. One of Hendry’s best attributes is his skating. He combines power with excellent speed. He is very good in transitioning and has demonstrated a willingness to jump into plays. He reads and follows plays well and is very solid positionally. Hendry is quite good one-on-one, often making it difficult for opposing forwards to shake him off. As good as Hendry is defensively, he is almost equally good offensively. He has great poise and patience with the puck and has no trouble getting it to the net. He can quarterback the power play and possesses a blistering slap shot. Hendry is also a player who leads by example.

Non appena Nummi sarà in forma......sarà difficile sapere chi resterâ in tribuna!!
Io spero solamente che avendo uno straniero in sovrannumero non ci siano problemi in spogliatoio!!

Acciacchi e infortuni sono all'ordine del giorno specialmente per "vecchietti" come Nummi, Niedermayer e Rintanen, che hanno avuto diversi problemi nelle ultime stagioni (in fila: adduttori, ginocchio, schiena); e dopotutto servono stranieri in forma e non spremuti se vogliamo vincere il campionato

I commenti parlano di un difensore two-ways, le statistiche sembrano quelle di un giocatore piuttosto difensivo... Vedremo.

Forse anche per questo non ha ricominciato a giocare in NHL, dopo l'infortunio non era in formissima al camp e l'hanno dirottato agli Houston Aeros! Ma sono solo congetture...
